Episode 16 - 'Is HR Dead?' - The Happy Recap

    HR Happy Hour - Episode 16 - 'Is HR Dead?' - October 29, 2009

A really interesting, lively, and at times passionate discussion of the current state of HR, and a look towards HR's future.

Shauna and I were joined by special guests Frank Roche, China Gorman, and Mike VanDervort for a fascinating look at the ongoing debate inside of HR circles as to the relevance, impact, and potential of the HR function to the organization.

The general feeling on the panel and of most of the callers that joined the conversation was the HR is not 'Dead', but it is in need of variously better PR, stronger leadership, and less navel gazing.

Take a listen, re-read the show 'homework', and let us know what you think.

HR Happy Hour - Episode 16 - 'Is HR Dead'

Thursday, October 29 8PM EDT - Call in on 646-378-1086

Continuing our Halloween theme, this week on the HR Happy Hour Shauna and I take on one of the most hotly debated topics in the HR world of late, 'Is HR Dead?'.

From professors to pundits to bloggers there has been plenty of talk lately on the very nature of the HR discipline, its current condition, and the future of HR in the organization.

Pretty heady stuff, and to prepare for the show, over at my Tech blog I put together a little 'reading list' to get you up to speed on the debate.

Join our special guests Frank Roche from Know HR, Mike VanDervort from Human Race Horses, and China Gorman from SHRM for what is sure to be an interesting and lively debate.
