HR Happy Hour - With some Special Guests
So last night Mark Stelzner tweets:
As I tend to agree with the sentiment in Mark's tweet, I offered this reply:
After a quick convo on Twitter where Mark agreed to call in, and a hasty round of promotion and soliciting other callers, about 25 minutes later we went live on my Blog Talk Radio show, (the one I normally use to record interviews for my HR Technology Class).
It was a blast! By my reckoning the following folks were live and participating on the call at one time or another:
Mark Stelzer, Charee Klimek , Shauna Moerke (you may know her as the HR Minion), Sharlyn Lauby (the HR Bartender), Joyce Chastain, Becky Allen, Michele Wagner, Susan Burns, and Michael Krupa.
Since the call was not planned, scripted, or rehearsed in any way, the conversation was pretty free-flowing and ventured into many topics: what is happening with JobAngels, an update of the upcoming Social Recruiting Summit in June, and some interesting discussions about employer branding from Charee and a great story from Shauna about 'coming out of the blogging closet'.
You can listen to the 'Happy Hour' here:
I really had fun doing this, and if there is interest from the HR community to do more of these, I am certainly happy to organize and host. Hit me up in the comments, or sent me a Tweet.
Thanks so much for everyone that called in, and anyone who listened live to the show.

I totally miss the impromptu Happy Hour. Wish I could join in on that. I think you should do this every other week. You could do another one before the social recruiting summit or after the SHRM Conference.
And we want advanced notice :)
It was definitely alot of fun and if it isn't a burden for you...we should try to do it more often. Thanks again for pulling it together!
@Tracy - I would love to continue these chats on a semi-regular schedule if there seems to be enough interest. Coordinating them with some big events or conferences is a great idea. I will be sure to give some advance notice and do some more promotion for whenever the next one occurs.
@Sharlyn - Thanks so much for calling in! I think that with so many folks on the line it was pretty tough to keep things organized, (perhaps I bit off more than I bargained for), but I had a really fun time and I certainly would be happy to 'host' any future calls. I will keep listening to the community to see what the interest level is, and gather some ideas on the best way to structure the calls. I am thinking two or three 'featured' guests, and then take calls more like a 'normal' show, but I am open to any ideas and suggestions.
This was a blast Steve and thank you for not only pulling this together, but for also including me in the melee. :) I would love to see more of these and believe you may have accidentally stumbled on the type of spontaneous topical program that the industry needs right now. Well done my friend.
Thanks Mark, it was very kind of you to agree to call in on short notice and to promote the call in the 20 minute window that we had. I think this kind of free-flowing, fun, yet still informative interaction is valuable, and I hope to do some more of these calls in the future.
Thanks again!
This is amazing bro and splendid also
