WEBINAR: Seven strategies to save your employee referral program

Batman is without a doubt the greatest of all superheroes. A tragic origin story. A relentless and lifelong pursuit of elusive justice. And just the right amount of darkness, doubt, pain, and mystery to sustain the narrative for decades. You, me, all of us - we need a Batman.

And you know what else you need - Mr. or Ms. Talent Pro? You need to fill that Sr. Software Developer role like yesterday - or the next version of Super-fantastic-amazing product might night make it out the door as promised. You could use someone like Batman helping you out, that is for sure.

The really cool thing about superheroes is that they are superheroes for a reason – they have someone who is their equal to compete against them. These competitors are the super-villains, and in the movies they’re doing bad things – but in real life these “villains” are only the bad guys and girls because they work for the competition.

So, how do you get your competitors talent to come over to your side and put on your company’s cape? A great employee referral program is the key.

Your pals over at Fistful of Talent are back at it with the March installment of their monthly webinar series. This month, with the help from the heroes at Zao, HR SuperFriends Kris Dunn and Tim Sackett will be laying down seven strategies that are guaranteed to put your employee referral program on another planet.

Join us Wednesday March 27 at 1pm ET and we’ll hit you with the following:

  • Seven surefire ways to engage your best employees and increase referrals (while ensuring your employees don’t refer SuperDuds!)
  • How to develop an internal communication strategy for your employee referral program
  • The keys to sustaining your program long-term
  •  How and why trends like gamification can lead to better employee referral results
  • he top three reasons 99% of employee referral programs fail and how you can make sure your employee referral program is delivering the goods all year long

Don’t let your employee referral program fall to the Legion of Doom. Register now for The SuperFriends: 7 Strategies to Get Your Superhero Employees to refer Their Arch Nemesis!

As always, the FOT webinar comes with a guarantee - 60% of the time it works all of the time!

WEBINAR: It's Time for Your Close-Up

Have you heard about the latest trend in cosmetic surgery?

Of course you have, you are on top of things, you even know that this past weekend the mighty South Carolina Gamecocks football team defeated arch-rival Clemson for the 4th consecutive year, (sorry, I just had to slip in a sports reference).

Back to cosmetic surgery.  With the growing accessibility and importance of video communication - Skype, Google Hangouts, Video Interviewing, FaceTime, etc., a new genre of surgery has emerged - the so-called 'FaceTime Facelift'.

The idea behind this clever marketing stunt by a couple of enterprising cosmetic surgeons - that increased use of video technologies will drive a subset of users to seek, ahem, enhancements, in their appearance and some kind of improvement in their confidence when using these new technologies.

Sounds crazy, right?

But the 'FaceTime Facelift', despite how ludicrous it sounds, does reveal an underlying truth - video technology for essential communication, collaboration, and simply 'getting things done' continues to emerge as one of the most dominant technology trends of the last few years. And this trend is bigger than Skyping your Aunt Betty for her birthday, it continues to drive important changes and present opportunities inside of organizations as well.

That is why your friends at Fistful of Talent, in collaboration with the folks at Blue Jeans Network, have decided to focus on video and it's role in driving results inside the organization for the latest installment of the FOT Webcast titled "Video Killed the Radio Star: How Collaboration Tools and the BYOD Movement Are Reshaping the Way HR & Recruiting Pros Get S#*T Done”, to be presented this Thursday, November 29th at 1:00PM ET.

Here are all the deets:

Join FOT for our November webinar (sponsored by the fine folks at Blue Jeans Network), “Video Killed the Radio Star: How Collaboration Tools and the BYOD Movement Are Reshaping the Way HR & Recruiting Pros Get S#*T Done”,  on Thursday, November 29th at 1:00PM ET, and we’ll hit you with the following:

1. A detailed dive into why video collaboration is quickly killing the use of traditional audio conferencing tools and the positive impact the shift is having in modern day organizations.

2. Five ways you can leverage video collaboration tools in your organization today. FOT is determined to make you a believer, so we’re offering up five scenarios in which video collaboration would be the most effective route to execute challenges in your daily role and ultimately drive business results.

3. A comprehensive roadmap for driving user adoption of video collaboration across your organization. You’ve got the goods now it’s time to put them to use. FOT will break down the three barriers to user adoption and offer up a resistance free roadmap to implementing video collaboration across any business.

4. A universal script guaranteed to eliminate pregnant pauses, crickets and speaking out of turn.

5. BYOD and the Mobile Era - the final definition.  We’ll bring in Jeremy Malandar from Blue Jeans Network to define BYOD and the Mobile Era, and break down why they are leading drivers in the shift to video collaboration.

Bonus: We’ll wrap this webinar by stocking your toolbox full of free, cheap and accessible video tools and hardware to help you get started with video collaboration in your organization today.

Toss your outdated audio conferencing equipment like a pair of acid wash jeans and start collaborating like it’s 2012 – register now for “Video Killed the Radio Star”.

WEBINAR: You Rejected Me, But I Still Love You

The fine, fine people over at Fistful of Talent are back with the next installment in the popular webinar series that we like to jokingly refer to over at Fistful HQ in Cheyenne as the FOT Webinar!

Here are the details you need to know:

Title: Before the Rose Ceremony: How to Become an Employer of Choice Through Your Interview Process

Date and Time: Thursday, October 25, 2012 - 1:00PM ET

How to register? - Easy, just click here

Price: Free! (now that's a deal)

Need more convincing before you commit exactly $0 and 1 hour of your time to your pals at Fistful?

Ok, here goes:

Ever wonder why some of those women on The Bachelor don’t smash a window on their way out the door when they get voted off?  Let’s explore that in recruiting terms.

Join Fistful of Talent for our October webinar, (sponsored by the good folks at HireVue) – “Before the Rose Ceremony: How to Become an Employer of Choice Through Your Interview Process”, where we’ll explore the following and compare it to the meat show on the Bachelor/Bachelorette:

What pre-interview, pre-phone screen features subconsciously tell a candidate that you’re different from your competitors and help you plant the initial “why you want to work here” seed.

The 3 things that need to be present in your initial outreach to a candidate to prevent their BS meter from exploding (aka momentum killers).

The 5 Key Features of the live interview process at your company that sell your culture as a Great Place to Work – regardless if you hire the candidate or not.

FOT’s Top 7 Interview Questions for uncovering great info and selling the candidate on your company as an employer of choice – they won’t even realize you’re doing it (and you’ll get great info as a result).

SEND IN YOUR LESS ATTRACTIVE FRIENDS TO GIVE APPROVAL! (That’s FOT in this case.)  We’ll end with a simple audit process that you can use to determine if your interview process is contributing as much as it should toward your company being viewed as a destination of choice for candidates.

Join FOT for “You Rejected Me But I Still Love You” and install a couple of the interview process features we discuss, and candidates will start to view you less as the Motel 6 and more like the Ritz.

So that's the pitch - what do you think, do I get a rose at the end of the ceremony, or am I riding back to the bachelor house in the limo of shame?

All kidding aside, the FOT Webinars are the best in the industry for a reason - they mix actionable information, smart people, and just the right mix of fun and entertainment that make your investment, (remember it's FREE), pay off.

And as a bonus, we get to make fun of Sackett on the backchannel!

So one last time here is the 411:

WEBINAR: Bootstrap your employment brand the FOT Way

Here’s the short and sweet version of the information you need:

Register here, for the next Fistful of Talent Webinar on Thursday July 19th at 1:00PM ET.

If you need more convincing than that, well here you go....

It’s July, it’s hot, (at least in most of the Western Hemisphere), and you’re possibly feeling a little less-than-inspired. You look around the office and see a bunch of empty cubes, left unattended as your colleagues with more seniority and better ability to plan, (and schmooze the boss), are taking a nice, long summer holiday, leaving you to pick up the slack.  Yep, nothing like commuting to work at 7:45AM and seeing the temperature gauge on the minivan read 86 and the annoyingly perky morning radio guy letting you know today’s forecast high is 102.

You know how you can turn this around and exact a little revenge on those who conspire against you? (and trust me, that’s everyone).

By getting smarter while the other guy is lounging on the beach, by sharpening up the tools in your arsenal while the dude you’ll be up against for the next promotion is squeezing himself down the water slide, and maybe most importantly, having a little bit of fun with your pals at FOT while you’re at it, by joining us for the latest episode in the ever-popular, sure to excite, FOT Webinar, this time on the hot (Get it? Hot? It’s summer.), topic of Employment Branding.

Here’s the ‘official’ sounding pitch for the webinar, but you know as well as I do that in the new world no big brand, even cats as sharp as us kids here at FOT, can truly control the message.

Fistful of Talent is back this week with the July installment of the FOT webinar on Thursday, July 19th at 1:00PM ET,  brought to you by our innovative friends at TweetMyJobs. Join hosts Kris Dunn and Steve Boese, (hey that’s me),  as they deliver: Bootstrap Your Employment Brand the FOT Way, and serve up the following:

- A Quick-Hitting Approach to Building Your EVP. Forget what you think your employment brand is. FOT's going to break down a low cost way for you to determine your EVP and get some fresh ammo for your recruiting brand.

- How to Create Cool Content to Support Your EVP. The FOT team will walk you through how to develop a low-cost, low-pain way to develop quick hitting content that supports your EVP.

- How to Deliver Your Cool EVP Content via Social Media, with the Usual Suspects and TweetMyJobs. Now that you’ve identified your culture via an employment brand-supporting EVP, it’s time to package your message and ship it out to the public via mobile, photos, video, social apps, etc.

- What You Should Focus on When Gauging Your ROI, Ignoring Clicks and Other Measurement Gibberish. FOT will bring in TweetMyJobs Co- Founder, Gary Zukowski, to tell you what really matters when it comes to measuring your return on investment in relation to your employment brand – it’s more than click deep.

- 2-Way Conversations or How to Eat the Dog Food and Ease it Down with a Kool-Aid chaser. We’ll wrap up the webinar by walking you through how smart companies get team members fully engaged with the EVP and on the front lines of building a talent pool that wants to work for you.

Don’t call it a comeback – your EVP has been there for years. You’ve just never asked the right questions to figure out what people think is in it for them to work at your company.  Join FOT and Tweet My Jobs for this webinar and we’ll show you how to determine your real employment brand via the EVP and share it with the world.

So there you go - while your competition is making smores or shooting off fireworks, you’ll be getting the latest on building and communicating all the awesome in your organization, while plotting the decor in the big corner office that is reserved for people like you who soldier on instead of slacking off.

Make some plans to join the FOT crew on Thursday, July 19th at 1:00PM ET, 10:00 AM PT, (the rest of the world sort out the time yourselves).

And as always, the FOT Webinar comes to you guaranteed - 60% of the time it works every time.

WEBINAR : Talent, Succession, and Zombie Identification

A quick plug for my colleagues over at Fistful of Talent who next week, Wednesday June 20 at 1:00PM EDT, will be running the latest installment of their fun, informative, and popular webinar series, this time with what promises to be a fresh, innovative, and probably not at all like you are used to approach to succession planning and talent reviews. You know as an HR or Talent profession you secretly love talent reviews and succession planning. You do.

Why?

Because you love judging people. I mean, don't we all? You're reading this and judging me right now. If you are still reading this, I guess I made it past the latest in what naturally is an almost constant evaluation of where I fall on continuum running from 'What an idiot' to 'Genius! I need to show this article to my CEO'.

If judging people isn't the nation's second favorite pastime, (football is still number one), then how do you explain, variously, the success of American Idol, America's Got Talent, The Voice, Dancing With the Stars, and the 73 other competition/reality shows out there? And don't get me started on the internal monologue running in your brain when you go to the mall, the airport, or that pinnacle of judgmental snarkiness, the county fair.

But back to the point, and I remember there being one. As a talent professional perhaps the single most important job you have is making sure the organization has the talent it needs, in the roles where they are most likely to succeed and have some kind of affinity for, (or at least be good at), and demonstrate a readiness in organizational capability to adapt to (among other things), new business strategies, changing external conditions, and lastly and more commonly, people just being people and doing things like resigning unexpectedly, flaking out on an overseas business trip, or getting a too-good-to-pass-up and too-rich-for-you-to-match offer from ACME Corp. down the road.

So how as a busy with a million other things HR and Talent pro begin to get a handle on the 'sound boring but are really important' processes of Succession Planning and the mechanism that drives much of the Succession Planning process, the Talent Review?

Well, that is what the FOT webinar is all about. Check the details below:

Halogen Software is bringing in the team at Fistful of Talent for a quick, street smart webinar, Wednesday June 20 at 1:00PM EDT, on how to bootstrap a talent review and get started with Succession Planning.  Attend Zombies, Grinders and Superstars:  The FOT Talent/Succession Review” to get the following goodies:

How what you do with performance management at your company is directly related to how you approach talent reviews and succession

  • Why corporate values don’t belong anywhere near your performance management system
  • How items called “potential factors” add flavor to your approach to performance/talent/succession, and how to create potential factors for your company to use in the talent review
  • How to use the talent review process to calibrate performance ratings across your company, box in managers who are soft on performance and create a greater sense of pay for performance in your organization
  • An outline and best practice notes on how to run a talent review meeting, with formats that differ for your company’s Leadership Team, a division/departmental group, or a high potential employee program.

This webinar comes with the Fistful of Talent guarantee:  60% of the time it works every time.  Join the FOT crew as they tell the truth and cut through the smoke and mirrors related to Talent Reviews as a part of your succession program.

Got it?

Seriously, I always have learn something new on the FOT webinars, and even if you think you have the Succession/Talent thing down cold, it is worth your time to dial-in and help make fun of Sackett.
