#HRHappyHour 160 PODCAST - 'Data, Technology, and Insight'

Earlier this week myself along with HR Happy Hour Show co-host Trish McFarlane pre-recorded a special HR Happy Hour Show with Dann Adams, the President of Equifax Workforce Solutions, a division of the large data and services company Equifax, that you might know from their work with credit scores.

You can listen or download the show from the show page here, on iTunes, (just search the iTunes store for 'HR Happy Hour'), and from the replay widget below. But if you MUST have that 'live' HR Happy Hour Show experience, the show will automatically replay at 8:00PM ET tonight on the replay show page here.

Listen to internet radio with Steve Boese on Blog Talk Radio

It was a great and really interesting conversation with Dann about how data, and in particular employment data, (the kind that Equifax Workforce Solutions specializes in), can be harnessed by organizations to make better decisions, to actually help employees and their well-being, and gain insights into organizational talent strategies.

We talked about a lot of subjects you might not think 'fit' into an HR conversation - about the genesis, purpose, and limited (at times) value of credit scores, about how the growing mountain of student loan debt is influencing hiring and retention strategies, how getting financing for a car is going to start changing soon, and how data privacy continues to be top of mind for individuals and organizations.

If you're interested in Big Data in HR and in learning some ways in which a better understanding of that data - combined with a new and emerging set of analytics and visualization tools to make that data accessible and relatable, then you should definitely check out the show/podcast.

#HRHappyHour LIVE Tonight - 'Social, Brand, and Recruiting'

The HR Happy Hour Show is back and this week we are really excited to welcome back to the show the great Jessica Lee - a recruiting and employer branding thought leader, the original editor and still a contributor at Fistful of Talent, and who is one of the sharpest minds around when it comes to the use of social networks and social media for candidate attraction and engagement.

Jessica's influence in the world of corporate recruiting is immense - her company Marriott, has done and continues to do some of the most innovative work in corporate talent acquisition, and Jessica is at the forefront of what the rest of us think is the 'future' of recruiting - she and her team are doing it today.

This week we will talk with Jessica about some of the big-picture trends in corporate recruiting, how social approaches to recruiting strategies are actually done in the corporate world, the best ways to conceive and build an employer brand and even hit upon what technologies are having the most impact, and what we can expect to see in the world of recruiting in the future.

You can catch the show in a few different ways - listen to the live stream starting at 8:00PM ET on the show page here, or using the widget player embedded below:

    #HRHappyHour LIVE Tonight - 'The 8 Man Rotation - Season 3'

On Tuesday of this week The 8 Man Rotation gang - Matt 'akaBruno' Stollak, Kris Dunn, Tim Sackett, Lance Haun, and I released our third annual free Ebook on the intersection of 'Sports and HR'.

So while The 8 Man Rotation Ebook has become an annual tradition, (and an institution of sorts in the HR space), so too has the 8 Man Rotation's annual appearance on the HR Happy Hour Show to celebrate the Ebook launch - and to talk about all things 'Sports and HR'.

RADIO : You'll certainly be sick of hearing from me after this week

Through some combination of poor planning, forgetfulness, and narcissism, I am going to be guesting/hosting on THREE internet radio shows/podcasts in the next 36 hours or so. So for the benefit of the few family members of mine that might be interested in hearing from me THAT much, here are the details and dates and times of these shows:

    1. SAP Radio's 'Coffee Break with Game Changers' - TODAY at 11:00AM EST.

The episode it titled 'Workforce Analytics: Real People, Real Numbers' and I will be in on a panel of industry experts on workforce analytics and technology, (I will be the person saying things like 'HR departments already have plenty of data' and 'The only metric you really need to know is Revenue per Employee')

The hashtag for the show is #SAPradio and it should be a fun and interesting conversation.

    2. Drive Thru HR - TOMORROW, Feb. 7th at 1:00PM EST

I make my annual drop-in to Bryan and William's show.  I am sure they plan to ask me 'What's keeping me up at night?'  I have two potential answers - 'Nothing' and 'How far can Carmelo carry an aging Knicks team in the playfoffs this year?'  I'm leaning towards talking about the Knicks, so you have been warned.

The hashtag for Drive thru is #DTHR.

    3. HR Happy Hour - 'Tech and the Job Hunt' - TOMORROW, Feb. 7th at 8:00PM EST

Yes, I am appearing on my own show/podcast as Trish McFarlane and I welcome our good friend Kevin Grossman in to talk about his new book the Tech Job Hunt Handbook, and to take a look at the world or work, of technology, and whatever else we feel like tacking. Kevin is a super person, and I think this will be a really fun and interesting show.

Listen to internet radio with Steve Boese on Blog Talk Radio

The call-in number for the HR Happy Hour is 646-378-1086, and you can join the fun on Twitter as well - hashtag #HRHappyHour.

That's the scoop on my exploding online radio career.

I hope to catch some of you on the backchannel in the next couple of days!
